Project 4

As I began thinking of ideas to do for my final shoot, I knew I wanted to get out of
Aberdeen, so I could actually act on my urges to get out of this crap hole. My boyfriend
suggested I check out Sica Hollow State Park out towards the Sisseton area, because he visits
annually and figured there would be some good opportunities for pictures even in this time of the
year – late October. I decided to take the gamble, but when I arrived it was temporarily closed,
even though the website and signs said it was open. Luckily, I was enjoying my drive there and
saw all the opportunities to capture some successful pictures along the way and my project
became more about the adventure of getting to and from your destination. It was an overcast day
with a bit of a gloomy feel set in by the newly leaf-shed trees, but yet there was still a handful of
beauty along the way. I also drove through a little white-out snow and got one of my pictures in
that weather, so it was fun to have a changing of weather along the way, too. Near the end of my
route and returning to Aberdeen, I took some sunset photos at the end of my journey that gave a
warm feeling of home even if I do not always feel like home here.
